The New Movement is an improv, stand-up and sketch comedy training center based in Austin, Tx owned by Studio8.net founder Chris Trew and Studio8 contributor Tami Nelson.

The New Movement faculty have appeared at almost every major comedy festival in North America and have sold out workshops along the way to kids, teens, new and experienced performers.

Our improv training philosophy is focused on using the information at the top of a scene as a map for what follows. We use this same method to show how improv can also help non-comedians with communication skills and writing.

To bring The New Movement to your group, company or school contact Chris Trew – 225.938.8242 or ceo@studio8.net.

The New Movement is located on 1819 Rosewood Ave. next to Nubian Queen Lola’s Soul Food. For more information visit TNM online, email thenewmove@gmail.com or call 512.788.2669.

“…the kind of person who you just look at and you trust him – you immediately realize that he’s a dedicated and gifted performer and teacher who knows what he’s doing. He’s extremely positive and knows just the right things to say in order to help you learn.”

- Former student Kristin Hillery

“Chris has an excellent sense of listening and processing what is happening around him. His unabashed passion for what he is teaching is exciting.”

– Former student Jerry Bilbo

“Chris inhales improv and exhales comedy. When you’ve run out of things to do in a scene, and you think the scene is dead, he still has 50 additional, amazing places you could have gone with it — and It emboldens you when he brings you to that realization.”

- Former student Eric Heiberg
