I have an incredibly generous friend. She’s been that way for as long as I’ve known her. Every day in junior high school she gave me and my friend Eric a dollar which I spent on Zero bars while he saved his. At the end of 8th grade I had a stomachache and he was wealthy. She almost gave me a virtual boy for fun. It was not a surprise when she offered me a free ticket to watch the New Orleans Saints play the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football last month. I was completely flattered and appreciative, but surprised? No way, she almost purchased a Virtual Boy for me.

Not her fault, but turns out the whole free ticket thing wasn’t in the cards. I was disappointed, but you can only be so disappointed when what was coming your way was one of those jaw dropping is-this-really-happening gifts to begin with. I stayed strong and watched the game on television.

My generous friend has another important quality – she understands heightening. We did end up going to last Monday’s Saints game in the Dome. Begin picture story:

We had so many gallons of Daq that when we opened the car door to get to work one fell on the ground. Now that’s a lot of Daq.

Yeah, we made party cups and spelled Limousine like “Limeaux.” Oh yeah, we also got a limo. Completely out of hand.

I am hard at work in my new Jeremy Shockey jersey. If I wasn’t you wouldn’t be reading this. Writing columns about preparing for games is one of the ways I prepare for games.

Our time in the Superdome can best be described by this really amazing piece of graphic design that I came up with.
