So there’s a really cool project going on right now called Star Wars: Uncut, in which Star Wars fans from all over the world are reshooting the original Star Wars movie in 15-second chunks, uploading them to a site, and then stringing them all together and releasing them as a complete film either on the internet or on DVDs (or both).
Anyone can choose a scene and then they have 30 days to complete it before the scene is given to someone else. So far, there are lots of awesome scenes uploaded for you to enjoy on the site and the trailer for the finished project is a lot of fun to watch. When we found out about it, we immediately nabbed a scene (Scene 119), shot it, and released it over the weekend.
If you sign up on their site, you can watch the original Star Wars clip and then compare ours to it. Some people can’t tell the difference since we painstakingly made ours so damn close to the original. Let us know what you think and if you’ve made a clip for the project, too! Everyone can produce 3 scenes, so if we do 2 more, we will post them here!
A few months ago, Studio 8 collaborated with a young director named Josh Trank to produce one of our most successful videos ever, “Stabbing at Leia’s 22nd Birthday”. That video attracted the attention of several agents and networks and now Josh has been whisked away to New York to direct an internet series for SpikeTV that is a spin-off of sorts for Spike’s new show “The Kill Point” starring John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg.
So the series premiered last night and Josh’s first webisode just hit the net this morning. It is fantastic, as we expected. Watch it below and then watch “The Kill Point” on SpikeTV and then email Spike to pat them on the back for giving a talented dude a chance to prove what he can do.
Here’s a link to the show so you can watch it because this blog won’t let me embed it for some dumb reason:
Studio 8 produced this movie with a super-talented director friend of ours named Josh Trank. If you want to see more stuff like this, Josh is directing webisodes of SpikeTV’s show “The Kill Point”, which you can see here: www.spiketv.com/index.html#shows/ss/sid=10192/t=ss
