NEWS ITEM! Studio 8 is putting all of its eggs in this bloggy basket as it demolishes its Forums!
The time has come, dear friends, for me to drive the Stake of Destruction into the gnarly heart of the Studio 8 Forums. Over the years, we’ve had lots of fun memories with our forums, but maintaining an online community is tough if :
A) – You really don’t give much of a fuck about doing that sort of thing.
B) – Spammers and robots and vile, nasty assholes keep crashing your forums and filling it with nonsense and advertisements.
C) – Everyone blogs and video blogs now instead of forum-squatting.
D) – You’re a humor website and all your readers are anti-social weirdos.
Anyway, here are a few highlights from the good and stupid times of the soon-to-be-dead Studio 8 Forums:
- This post, in which Studio 8 Character Barbara Stanson linked to a site about a bunch of lame fat women who are proud to be lame fat women.
- The Hurricane Katrina posting – Yuck. Moving on…literally!
- Fannie Beenerface Forum Posting #283 – Everyone hated Fannie Beenerface. I loved her. Her articles are some of the coolest things on our site.
- The Unresolved 72 Donuts Food Challenge – Java tried to eat 72 mini chocolate donuts and failed. It was awesome.
- This stupid thing – Oh boy! Spam! This was one of the finer spammings to be posted on our forum. If only we had some sucker willing to be moderator to delete shit like this, perhaps this blog posting wouldn’t even be written right now!
- Forum problems – This was so embarrassing! Oh my gods!
- The First Annual Gentleman Brock’s New Book Contest – This contest was one of the few that wasn’t regulated by the asshole Studio 8 Conteste Master. Several participants, um, participated and Gentleman Brock books were given away by the truckload*. * – Each truck could only carry a load of one book. Only one truckload was actually given away.
- Terp’s Mystery Trip – Somebody put Chris Trew on a plane and he had no idea where it was going and he had to stay there for 5 days. What a gift, huh?
- The Forum Party!!!! – This was a riot and never needed to ever happen.
- Studio 8: The Video Game! – You will have fun for hours playing this. I swear. That swear was based on a lie.
- The post about our old guestbook, which was replaced by our forum, which is being replaced by this blog. The head spins at the thinking of it.
So that’s all I have to say about it. If you desire an old comedic tidbit or want to take one last peek through our forums, you better do it within the next week or so because the wrecking crew is coming.
