Local Flavor Comedy Tour wrap-up

With this post we official declare the first-ever Local Flavor Comedy Tour an all-caps SUCCESS! (Before we get into the deets, shout-outs go to Last Gas Comedy for the tour artwork and Studio8.net for the tour sponsorship.)

art!

We started off Hercules-strong in Dallas where, with the help of The Victims, put together an incredibly well-attended punk rock improv show in an empty warehouse in South Dallas. The local flavor there was decent with the exception of a biscuit served with taco, italicized to indicate how pissed off we were at this.

bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz hornets

En route to Lafayette, La where we were treated to a dinner party with three friends and one enemy, we stopped for sushi in fresh fish central, Shreveport, La. Our show in Lafayette was business as usual and on our way home we stopped to conquer the famous-to-us Cookie Bowl Sundae.

We spent the next two days in the homeland.

NOLA

We spent some QT at the theater where it all started, La Nuit, had our first perfect Local Flavor experience, nailed a sold-out show and then boogied to Baton Rouge where another packed-to-the-max show was nailed. We also uncovered a very complicated mystery that is inappropriate for this review (ask us at a party).

best straight man on earth

Jackson, MS was on FIRE. The people there were AMAZING, the food WORKED, our show attendance and our stage skillzz were both FIRE CODE THREATENING. We got a nice write up in the local paper and made a local anchorman nervous on the news (head here and type “comedy” into the video search engine)

We moonwalked into Atlanta, did our thing at the Basement Theater, had a good time at restaurants even though some signs indicated that we might not, and then we sunstepped towards the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival like complete professionals.

straight @ the base

The North Carolina Comedy Festival was huge and organized and loud and quality and thick and nonstop and we’ll go back as often as we need to. Props to the organizers and staff and all the groups who traveled out to make the festival happen.

Yelp Reviews
We discovered Yelp and we’re all over it. Check our profile over there for the full scoop on what we’ve done (local flavor, yall). Look out, food, we are now EMPOWERED and UNIQUE.

All on the FlickR
We did some serious photography on this trip. Peep the set here and while you’re at all this nonsense, add us to your contacts list.

Big serious thanks to all who played a role in the tour – we’ll be back.
