Kirk Cameron is smaller in person than you could ever imagine. Joanna
Kerns hasn't aged in the last 20 years. Alan Thicke is good with young
children. How do I know so many inconsequential facts about the stars
of the popular 80's sitcom Growing Pains? I'll get to that in a
minute, but first let's discuss some Studio 8 business.
This week we officially finished the first incarnation of a DVD for our
90-minute comedy film,
Everything is Everything. Now, unless we want to
print it up ourselves, we have to find some cheap DVD-printing company
to strike up a deal with us. But while we're sorting all of that out,
you should take a minute to e-mail me at
brock@studio8.net
and tell me that you'd like to reserve a copy for yourself and
your loved ones or just yourself if you are your only loved one. If
you've never seen our movie, you're in for a treat, and if you have
seen it, the DVD has enough extra footage/surprises to make it worth
your hard-earned pesos (I arbitrarily assume that all of our readers
are Mexicans).
The next order of business: What's on Studio 8's plate over the next
few months? Well, we've got a few new potential staff member people
who want to write for us, and I'm figuring out how and where to
feature their talents. We're a pretty tight-knit group, but I believe
that there are others out there who share our sense of humor and are
also dedicated enough to spend most of their waking time cranking out
material for this site, so I'm trying to stir up the mix of
Studio8.net with some new blood. I guarantee you right now that you
will experience no loss of quality on this site because there
isn't much quality to begin with, and really as long as they possess
the writing skills of a freshly planted potato, they can do no harm
here.
Also, our move to LA might be postponed indefinitely. Why? Well, it's
related to the question that you asked me at the beginning of this
article. Do you remember what that question was? For those of you who
don't, I'll cut and paste it here: "How do I know so many
inconsequential facts about the stars of the popular 80's sitcom
Growing Pains?"
The reason is that I recently wrapped up filming a Growing Pains
TV reunion movie in New Orleans. Yes, the entire original cast was
here (sans Mr. DiCaprio), and they were all very nice and far less
snobby and egotistical than I expected them to be. This film was the
first of many many movies that are being produced in south Louisiana
over the next couple of years. This nullifies our move to Los Angeles,
essentially. All of the networking and experience that we hoped to
gain out there can now be gained here. I've been doing it for the past
month and already I've learned more about myself and the 'art' of
moviemaking than I ever learned by watching that "Making of"
featurette on the Short Circuit 2 DVD last Christmas.
Basically, Louisiana is quickly becoming the cheap hot-spot for film
production. This is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not
only for the residents of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, but also for
the boys of Studio 8. Currently I'm being coached, trained, and
encouraged by an Academy Award-winning production designer, and even
though I work more than 12 hours a day sometimes, I'm loving every
minute of it. The other Studio 8 guys are working their way in, as
well, and I think within the next year you will hear some cool news
from us. Hollywood has its eyes set on New Orleans. The road is going
to be long, but the money is pouring into this state and I think that
it won't be too long before we have some serious financing to produce
quality Studio 8 films (and music, sketches, etc).
Anyway, this month has been very inspirational, and though I don't
have much time to contribute much to the site, I think we'll be doing
a lot more in the coming weeks, especially if our new layout goes
live. I recommend that you enjoy our currently-featured content and
then spend some time digging through our archives -
articles,
media reviews,
special reports,
coupons,
characters,
comics, and
AOL victims - because you'll
surely find something nutty that you've never seen before.
We at Studio 8 sincerely appreciate your support, letters, funding,
and worship as we continue to grow as entertainers and artists. We
have more material and ideas than I could possibly list right now and
I'm not going to rest until I get it all out of my head and onto this
site (or hopefully the Silver Screen).
I'm going to cut it short right here so I can work on some fun stuff.
See you in the
forums.
