I don’t know if this is 100% accurate but I think sometime in the early 1800’s this really charming dude named Louis was canonized at the convergence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and said out loud to his B.F.F. “I think I’m gonna like this” and then said “here, hold this cardinal, I gotta arch my back”.

Did you know that St. Louis is the patron saint of red bean paste buns, delicious and reasonably priced salmon sandwiches, tron-like bicycle games, owls and really really nice improvisers? We taught 3 workshops and did a super fun show with the kids from Bill Chott’s Improv Trick and said out loud to each other (our B.F.F.’s) “omg we love this place” and started planning the next tour to include another stop ole st. louie.

We are currently in Philadelphia teaching and performing with the folks from PHIT, but you’re probably thinking whoa-whoa-whoa not so fast and you’re right. Other things have happened since St. Louis but we gotta give it to you in bullet form cause we’re about to shoot out and get the scoop on this town.

Highlights!
- Tami Nelson attended her first MLB game in Pittsburgh
- Chris and Tami stood outside the Gaslight (in St. Louis) and felt the electricity (Hero Del Close has big time ties to this place)
- Columbus Ohio has one restaurant and a thousand stop signs
- If you have an hour to spare go get rubbed down in Chinatown and then let the fattest cat sit in your lap while you reflect

First stop: Dallas, TX! Easy, right? Totally right. But don’t get it twisted, we put in all the hard work at the top, packed the car up tight, got on the road ahead of schedule and pitstopped in Italy at treat time.

Do you know what Italy is famous for? Exotic jerky, y’all. So we honored this reputation by stopping at the Texas Smokehouse and Gas Station where the jerky was house smoked and the gas was stationed. Samples of jerky were free, however gas samples we frowned upon. (SEE: Jerky Examples)

At The Dallas Comedy House’s homebase/Amanda’s house we found TNM’s own/Dallas’s own Clay Barton drinking beer and playng with his ipet dog, Sock Fresh. We enjoyed many raw seafoods and varieties of breakfasts and too many sushis and left love notes all over town. One day, Chris watched a baseball game with The Victim’s John Rawley and somehow they got a free cup!

Q: What rules about Dallas?
A: A totally fresh crop of badass improvisers. We taught 2 full to the max workshops and performed jams and shows and talked late into the night about all of the fun things.

On towards Kansas City…

Now I understand how an athlete feels when he works really hard for his entire life, studying game tape and practicing, practicing, practicing. I understand the feeling he has when he walks onto the field for the first time because the hard work paid off. It’s time to be rewarded.

En route to the second stop of The Dream of Meal Comedy tour we stopped at Mr. Spriggs BBQ, a small joint near the Oklahoma City airport. Their commercial has been seen and loved by millions online as well as a million times by us. AND WE ATE THERE LIVE. Additional video evidence coming soon.

Post meal we performed a comedy show in our friend Emily’s living room. A bunch of people showed up and good times were had. Video evidence for this coming later as well. For now, we catch up on our internet duties and prepare for our show in St. Louis tonight!
