About Our Print Stuff

In 2002, Brock and Chris were approached by The Tiger Weekly (an independent newspaper at LSU) to spice up their content. The editor had been reading our website and offered us a page in his paper to do whatever we wished. We wrote LSU-based satire under the title, “Things That Could Have Happened This Week But Didn’t.” We were very pleased at the ruckus we caused the next day at school. Many students didn’t understand that our section of the paper was fiction. The buzz was amazing. We were addicted.
The section eventually adopted the name The Campus Dirt and featured a Studio8.net logo at the top.
The Tiger Weekly's editor suggested that we make our own paper so the summer of 2002 was spent researching, writing, and designing LSU’s first and only all-satire paper, The Campus Dirt.
While all 10,000 copies of our paper flew off the shelves within hours, we struggled with maintaining sufficient advertising. We were the bad boys of the newspaper world, and although more students cared about reading our paper than our competitors, we couldn't convince businesses of the same. Many feared that since we were publishing false news, readers would assume our ads were false.
We managed to squeak out 11 issues while we were also filming and editing our first movie.
Since then, The Campus Dirt pretty much died. However, the future is unwritten and we would love the chance to get back in the newspaper world.
In the meantime, though, we plan on entering the world of book publishing. Gentlemen Brock's book will be the first available.
